Our Mission

Every day, strong and healthy young people die suddenly from heart conditions they didn’t know they had.

Under the age of 35, many deaths are registered as Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome – SADS

Our mission is to provide cardiac screening, CPR training and defibrillators for schools, sports clubs and institutions.

Through the generosity of those who can afford to pay, we will provide these life-saving services for young people unable to fund them for themselves.

The Facts

  • Every week in the UK, around 12 young people (under the age of 35) die suddenly from a previously undiagnosed heart condition.  80% of these deaths will occur with no prior symptoms.
  • Although it won’t identify all young people at risk, in Italy, where screening is mandatory for all young people engaged in organised sport, they have good evidence of significantly reducing the incidence of young sudden cardiac death.
  • In the UK fewer than 1 in 10 people who witness an out of hospital cardiac arrest can and will use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
  • For every minute someone is in cardiac arrest without CPR and access to a defibrillator, their chances of survival drops by up to 10%.

WHAT WE DO

Our team of specialist cardiac physiologists, nurses and cardiologists provided an on-site screening service, alongside our team of nurses offering training in CPR and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) as well as a risk assessment.

We work with corporate groups, schools and sports clubs to assess their needs – whether its basic life support training or cardiac screening – and once we understand specific needs and numbers, provide a bespoke price and timescale to deliver.

We have a buy one donate one model for both our screening and training programmes and a contribution to our awareness and community programmes.  We can also work with schools, clubs and other organisations that you may already have links with in the community.

who we are

We are a CIC (Community Interest Company) deliberately set up this way in order to extend Screening and Training services beyond just the few who can afford to pay for them. As a non-profit organisation we also have a like-for-like plan for those who would like to donate a full free of charge place for screening or training to another person who would be unable to afford these services.
